Cytokine Overview
Cytokines are a class of small molecule proteins with extensive biological activity that are synthesized and secreted by immune cells after stimulation. They exert their biological effects by binding to corresponding receptors on the surface of target cells. According to their functions, they are mainly divided into the following 7 categories, as shown in Table 1. At present, recombinant cytokines are widely used in research fields such as cell culture and differentiation, preparation of high-standard cell culture media, research and development and production of new drugs, and cell therapy, so they have very broad application prospects.
